Terms of Use
The rules for using BitBackMe.
Effective date: 22 September 2026
Website: https://bitbackme.com
These Terms of Use (“Terms”) are the agreement between you and BitBackMe when you visit the site, create an account, publish a campaign, comment, pay the review fee, or send Bitcoin to a campaign address you found here.
By using BitBackMe you agree to these Terms and to our Privacy Policy. If you do not agree, do not use the site.
We may update these Terms. The current version will always be posted on this page with a revised effective date. Continued use after a change means you accept the updated Terms.
1. What BitBackMe is — and is not
BitBackMe is a public listing website. We give people a page on which they can tell a story and publish a Bitcoin address. Supporters can then send Bitcoin straight from their own wallet to that address.
We are not:
- a bank, credit provider, payment processor, money transmitter or remittance service;
- a charity, trustee, escrow agent or crowdfunding intermediary;
- a party to any donation;
- the custodian of anyone’s Bitcoin;
- a guarantor that a campaign is genuine, will reach its goal, or will use funds as promised.
Bitcoin donations never pass through BitBackMe. They go from the donor’s wallet to the campaigner’s nominated wallet on the Bitcoin network. We do not hold, receive, forward, freeze or refund those payments. We cannot reverse a Bitcoin transaction.
The Bitcoin network is public and is not owned or controlled by us. You use Bitcoin at your own risk.
2. Who these Terms cover
- A visitor is anyone who reads the site.
- A campaigner (organiser) is anyone who submits or manages a campaign.
- A donor is anyone who sends Bitcoin to an address published on a campaign page.
- A user is any of the above, including account holders.
If you publish a campaign for someone else, you are still the campaigner as far as BitBackMe is concerned. You are responsible for what you publish and for the address you list.
3. Eligibility
- You must be 18 or older to create an account, publish a campaign or pay the review fee.
- You must be able to enter a binding contract where you live.
- You must not use the site if doing so would break the law that applies to you.
- You must not impersonate another person or create an account for someone else without their authority.
We may ask for more information before we publish or keep a campaign live. We do not have to approve every submission.
4. Accounts
You must give a working email address and keep your login details secret. You are responsible for activity under your account. Tell us promptly if you think someone else has used it.
We may refuse, suspend or close an account if we reasonably believe these Terms have been broken, the account is a risk to others, or we need to protect the site.
5. Campaigns
A campaign on BitBackMe is a public web page. Anything you put on it — title, name or nickname, story, photo, goal, Bitcoin address, Mempool link, social links — can be read, copied and archived by anyone.
5.1 What you must get right
- Your story must be honest. Do not invent a cause, a person or a need.
- The Bitcoin address must be one you control (or that the beneficiary controls, with their knowledge). Check it more than once before you publish. Send a tiny test amount if you need to be sure.
- If you name another person, you must have the right to do so.
- Images must be yours to use. Do not upload photos with hidden location data if you do not want that location public.
- If the situation changes, update the page or ask us to archive it. When you reach your goal we ask you to close the campaign.
5.2 What listing does not mean
A live campaign is not an endorsement. We do not verify every claim. Publication means only that the page was accepted for listing at that time. We can change our mind.
5.3 Who a campaign may be for
BitBackMe lists personal campaigns only. A campaign must be for a named person, that person’s immediate family or a close friend, or that person’s own animal, and for a private need of that person (for example medical costs, housing, a funeral, tools or education). It must not be for a charity, an organisation, a club, a community project, or an open-ended public cause.
If you publish a campaign for someone else you are still the campaigner under these Terms. You must have the right to name that person and to publish the Bitcoin address.
6. Fees and refunds
There is a one-time review fee of $20 AUD. That fee is for submitting a campaign for review. It is not a promise the campaign will go live. It helps cover hosting and the time it takes to read submissions, and it is meant to discourage spam, backlink farming and tyre-kickers. It is not a share of donations.
The review fee is paid through Square. Square’s own terms apply to that payment. We do not store your full card number.
We do not charge a platform fee, success fee or percentage of Bitcoin sent to a campaign address. Network (miner) fees on the Bitcoin network are set by the network and by your wallet — not by us.
BitBackMe runs on voluntary support. If your campaign succeeds we may ask you to send a small donation to help keep the site online. Two per cent is a common figure on other platforms. That gift is optional. Whether you give, and how much, is up to you.
Refunds of the review fee work like this. We keep the $20 when we refuse or remove a campaign because it breaks these Terms or sits on the list in section 10 — including spam and campaigns created to farm backlinks, SEO or traffic. We will usually refund the $20 if a charity, club or community project submits by mistake, or if we refuse a genuine personal campaign before it goes live for a reason that is not a breach of these Terms. We may also refund it where Australian Consumer Law requires it. Email support@bitbackme.com with the campaign link or the email used to pay. Bitcoin sent to a campaign address is never refundable by us; see section 8.
7. Donations — wallet to wallet
When you donate on BitBackMe you are not paying BitBackMe. You are sending Bitcoin to the address on the campaign page.
- Check the address on the page against a block explorer such as Mempool.space before you send.
- Start with a small test payment if you are unsure.
- Bitcoin transactions are final. There is no chargeback and no refund button.
- Do your own due diligence. Read the story. Look at the wallet activity. Use the social links. If something feels off, do not send funds.
- We do not issue tax receipts for campaign donations. Tax treatment is your problem and the campaigner’s, not ours.
A goal amount is a target, not a cap we enforce on the blockchain and not a promise that funds will arrive. Funds do not sit with us until a target is hit. Whatever is sent to the listed address is already in that wallet.
8. No refunds of Bitcoin
Once Bitcoin leaves your wallet, BitBackMe cannot get it back. We cannot freeze the campaigner’s wallet. We cannot order the Bitcoin network to reverse a payment.
If you sent funds to the wrong address, or you believe a campaign misled you, that dispute is between you and the campaigner. You may also report the campaign to us so we can consider taking the page down. Taking a page down does not move Bitcoin.
9. Campaigner promises
By publishing a campaign you promise that:
- you are 18 or older;
- the content is accurate so far as you know, and you will correct it if it becomes wrong;
- you have the right to use the text, images and names you submit;
- you control the Bitcoin address, or the beneficiary does and knows you have listed it;
- you will use funds in line with the story you published;
- the campaign does not break these Terms or the law;
- you will not use BitBackMe to run a scam, a securities offer, a loan book, a raffle you are not allowed to run, or any scheme that treats a donation as an investment with a promised return.
10. What we will not list
We may refuse, delay, edit or remove any campaign. We hold that right. BitBackMe does not list charities, community projects or clubs. In particular we will not knowingly list campaigns that:
are for a registered charity, or ask people to “donate to our organisation”;
are an open-ended cause (for example the homeless, wildlife, or disaster victims as a class);
raise funds for public infrastructure or amenities (including halls, parks, playgrounds or courts);
raise funds for a club or association itself;
- are illegal where we operate or where the campaigner operates;
- support illegal activity;
- we consider immoral;
- go against the freedom and liberty of others — including campaigns that promote violence, slavery, trafficking, child exploitation, or the targeting of people for who they are;
- are fraudulent, impersonate someone, or are likely to deceive donors;
- raise funds for terrorism, organised crime, or the purchase of illegal weapons or prohibited drugs;
- offer interest, profit share, tokens, securities or any investment return in exchange for Bitcoin sent as a “donation”;
- are mainly about selling non-Bitcoin tokens or running a pump;
- include sexual content involving minors, or any sexual content we are not willing to host;
- doxx, harass or incite harm against a private person;
- infringe copyright or other rights;
- are spam, or exist only to farm addresses, backlinks, SEO or traffic.
This list is not exhaustive. We can say no for reasons not listed here. We do not have to give a long explanation, though we will usually say if a campaign was refused.
Listing or refusing a campaign is not a legal finding. It is a hosting decision.
11. Links in a campaign story
Official Mempool / X / Facebook fields don’t count. One relevant outbound link in the story is allowed. Extra links can be stripped or the campaign refused. Link-farm pages stay unpublished and the $20 is kept.
12. Comments and other user content
Comments must be civil and lawful. We may delete comments that are spam, abusive, off-topic or unlawful. Comments are public.
You keep ownership of content you submit. You give BitBackMe a worldwide, royalty-free licence to host, display, reproduce and adapt that content so we can run the site (including backups, formatting for the theme, and showing a campaign in lists or social previews). That licence lasts for as long as the content is on the site and for a reasonable period after removal for caches and backups.
You also agree that campaign pages are meant to be shared. Other people may link to them.
13. Our intellectual property
BitBackMe, the site design, our logos and our original text belong to us. You may not copy the site in order to build a competing service from our work. You may link to BitBackMe and quote short passages with credit.
14. Third-party services
The site relies on other services. Those services have their own terms.
| Service | What it is for |
| Square | The $20 AUD review fee |
| Mempool.space and other explorers | Looking up a published Bitcoin address |
| X / Twitter, Facebook and similar | Links or embeds a campaigner chooses to add |
| WordPress / hosting / spam tools / Gravatar | Running the website and comments |
If an embed or a link breaks, or a third party changes its rules, that is not a breach of these Terms by us.
15. Moderation, suspension and removal
We may, at any time:
- refuse a campaign before it goes live;
- edit a page for formatting, broken links or obvious errors;
- take a page down;
- archive a campaign that has reached its goal or gone quiet;
- suspend or close an account;
- report conduct to the police or another authority if we reasonably believe we should.
Taking a page down does not recover Bitcoin already sent. Refunds of the $20 review fee are set out in section 6. If we remove a campaign for breach of these Terms, including the list in section 10, we keep the fee.
16. Privacy
How we handle personal information is set out in our Privacy Policy on https://bitbackme.com. Campaign pages are public. Do not publish information you want to keep private.
17. No professional advice
Nothing on BitBackMe is legal, tax, financial, medical or investment advice. A campaign story is the campaigner’s speech, not ours. Bitcoin is volatile. You are responsible for your own decisions.
18. The site is provided “as is”
We aim to keep BitBackMe online and usable. We do not promise uninterrupted access, error-free pages, or that a displayed wallet balance or Mempool link is always current or correct. Always verify an address yourself before sending Bitcoin.
Wallet balances shown on a campaign page, if any, are a convenience view of public chain data. They can lag, fail or be wrong. They are not a statement by us that funds were received for the purpose described.
19. Australian Consumer Law
If you are a consumer under the Australian Consumer Law, you have rights that cannot be excluded. Nothing in these Terms excludes, restricts or modifies those rights.
Where we are allowed to limit our liability for a failure to comply with a consumer guarantee, and the goods or services are not of a kind ordinarily acquired for personal, domestic or household use, our liability is limited to one or more of the following, at our option: supplying the services again, or paying the cost of having the services supplied again.
20. Limitation of liability
To the extent Australian law allows:
- BitBackMe is not liable for Bitcoin sent to a wrong address, a scammer, or a campaign that does not deliver what it promised;
- we are not liable for losses that come from using the Bitcoin network, a third-party wallet, Square, Mempool.space, or any other site we link to;
- we are not liable for lost profits, lost Bitcoin, lost data, or indirect or consequential loss;
- our total liability to you for everything connected with BitBackMe is limited to the amount you paid us in the 12 months before the claim (usually the $20 AUD review fee), or $20 AUD if you paid us nothing.
This section does not limit liability for fraud, or for death or personal injury caused by our negligence, or any other liability that cannot be limited by law.
21. Indemnity
If your campaign, your content or your use of the site causes a claim against BitBackMe, you will indemnify us for the reasonable loss we suffer as a result, including legal costs, except to the extent we caused the loss by our own fraud or negligence.
Typical examples: a campaign that misleads donors; content that infringes someone else’s rights; a Bitcoin address you published that was not yours.
22. Disputes between users
If a donor and a campaigner fall out, that is their dispute. We are not a court, an arbitrator or a payments ombudsman for Bitcoin transfers. We may still take a page down.
23. Governing law
These Terms are governed by the laws of New South Wales, Australia. The courts of New South Wales have non-exclusive jurisdiction. You also keep any rights you have in the courts of your own home place where the law says you must.
24. General
- If a part of these Terms is unenforceable, the rest still applies.
- If we do not enforce a right once, we can still enforce it later.
- You may not assign your account without our agreement. We may assign these Terms if we hand the site to someone else.
- These Terms and the Privacy Policy are the whole agreement about use of the site.
- The English version governs if there is ever another language version.
